Western Counties Division (West)

Cullompton 33

FOLLOWING a number of heavy defeats away from home, Bude put in a determined display at promotion chasing Cullompton before going down to a 33-0 defeat.

As so often with Bude, their forwards are key to their prospects, and in the early stages they matched their hosts despite finding themselves 6-0 down inside ten minutes through two Adam Pearce penalties.

Five minutes later, Cullompton scored their first try when scrum-half Tom Cole chased his own kick to go in under the posts before Pearce added his third penalty.

Bude refused to let the scoreboard continuously tick over and managed to hold out until the stroke of half-time when some slick handling allowed Josh Luxon to touch down.

There were just two further scores before the end as Alex Brooks went over in the 58th minute and replacement number nine, Tom Frankpitt, did likewise after fine work from Cole and Pearce once more.

Bude’s impressive home form, which has seen them pick up four wins from a possible six, will be put to the test once more on Saturday when they look to avenge September’s 92-0 drubbing against Exeter University.
