JOSH Radcliffe and Tomi Agbongbon are both in the Cornish Pirates side for tomorrow’s home date with Richmond at The Mennaye Field (3pm).

The Pirates are up to fourth in the Elior Champ Rugby table following last weekend’s first away win of the season, and attention now turns to looking to make it four victories on the spin in West Cornwall.

Doncaster Knights, Ealing Trailfinders and Chinnor have all tried and failed to win in Penzance so far, and face a Richmond side who come from London with a spring in their step following their first success of the season over Caldy last weekend.

Joint head coaches Gavin Cattle and Alan Paver have made two alterations as injured centre Chester Ribbons is replaced by Radcliffe, while powerhouse Agbongbon gets an opportunity at No.8 in place of Hugh Bokenham.

Australian back Dan O’Brien is named in the matchday squad on the bench following his recent move from his homeland, as is fit-again prop Billy Young who replaces Osman Dimen amongst the replacements.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow, Cornish Pirates’ coach Joe Walsh has said: “Having achieved a first win on the road at Rotherham last weekend, and on our longest away trip against a team who hadn’t lost at home in a long time, was very pleasing. It was a challenge, but the boys responded massively to achieve the result.

“As for this Saturday, Richmond scrapped hard to record their first win versus Caldy last weekend, and they will no doubt try to make it very difficult for us at the Mennaye.

“Indeed, irrespective of our present league positions we are looking at this as a big challenge and one when we will be taking nothing for granted.

“It is only a quarter of the season gone and things can change, but for us an obvious positive is that we are creating a feel good factor which is felt by both our players and supporters alike.”
