With the running season in full swing, Bude RATs have been represented at various events in recent weeks.

The Beacon Beast – which is based around Bodmin and the outskirts – attracted a strong contingent for the half marathon on Sunday, April 27.

Facing tough terrain, Tom Murrin’s time of one hour, 48 minutes and 45 seconds was enough for ninth overall and third in the M40-44 age group.

The times were as follows: Tom Murrin 1:48:45 (third in M40-44); Jeremy Brown – 2:18:04; Stephen Hutchinson – 2:32:28, (second in M70-74); Suzanne Brown 3:06:59; Claire Strong 3:14:54; Rachel Penn – 3:14:53; Stuart Colwill – 3:14:53; Colleen Finn – 3:14:58.

Annie Bover was the only Bude RAT to do the Saltash Half Marathon on Sunday, May 4, crossing the notoriously tough course in 2:13:26.

Stephen Hutchinson (47:46) and Antony Jarvis tackled the Boconnoc 5 on Wednesday, May 7.

Held in the beautiful estate, runners tackled the multi-terrain course with Antony’s time of 33:46 enough for third in the M55-59 section, while Stephen was fourth in the M70-74 age group, 11 seconds adrift of third.

Four days later saw Chloe Constantine and Anna Devlin visit North Devon to tackle the Bideford 10K.

Chloe was home in under 45 minutes, with Anna crossing the line in 1:05:15.

On the same morning, Stephen Hutchinson continued his season in the Cornish Multi-Terrain Race Series when he took part in the Trevornick 10K which is organised by Newquay Road Runners.

Stephen (56:50) was second to Malcolm Roberts who was home in 54:12.

Annie Bover finished within a minute of Stephen in 57:34.

The club are also seeking entrants for the Bude Lifeboat Run and Junior Run on Wednesday, June 11.

While the six-mile adult race is almost sold-out, there are still quite a few places left for the junior event.
