BUDE Rotary Club's fourth Great Atlantic Walk on Sunday left Crooklets Beach in perfect conditions with blue skies and the aroma of barbecue food, organised by Bude Surf Life Saving Club.

Approximately 300 to 350 people, representing more than 25 clubs and societies, walked across the beach to Sandymouth and back along the inner coastal path to Northcott Mouth, where the Bude Town Band were

playing their melodies at the tea gardens.

Well over £5,000 was raised during the day, with the highest fund-raiser walking for Week St Mary Football Club and raising an individual high of about £657.

"This is a trememdous effort given the economic

climate. Well done everyone!" said the organiser, Mike Howard.
