A BOY Bude pent time with British, English and UK Pro Tour Surfing Champion Alan Stokes on August 3, as he was announced as the latest Ambassador for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

Kai Johns, aged four, from Bude had his wish granted by Make-A-Wish, the leading wishgranting charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

The meeting with Alan took place ahead of the Boardmasters' five star world qualifying series surfing event. He took the boys to the beach where he himself learnt to surf —Tolcarne Beach in Newquay, where the tournament will take place — and he showed the boys and their families some basic surf moves.

Kai, who is living with Pulmonary Artesia, recently had a Mickey Mouse Play House bedroom make over.

Alan said: "It's fantastic to be an ambassador for such a fantastic charity. I feel honoured to have met such wonderful children today. I look forward to working with Make-A-Wish and meeting more children and raising the profile of Make-A-Wish in the South West."

In his role as ambassador, Alan will meet more wish children, help Make-A-Wish with fundraising and attend Make-A-Wish events and balls.

Make-A-Wish spares no effort to ensure the whole family benefits from the magic of a wish, as it is a treasured time for the entire family as they face a huge battle. This year, over 1,000 children will turn to the charity for their magical wish to be granted.
