BUDE has been voted as the best place to live in Cornwall for a second time.
In 2024, the North Cornwall coastal town was crowned as the best place to live within the county. For 2025 however, it was Penzance and Falmouth which knocked Bude off its perch, pushing it down to third place.
Despite having to live with a podium position for a year, this week the town was returned to its throne after claiming the top spot for the 2026 rankings.
A spokesperson for the publication said: “With recent changes in the mortgage and property markets, homeowners and city dwellers are faced with difficult decisions to make on their future job and lifestyle opportunities. Do they stay put or make the move to find more space and creature comforts of a cosmopolitan lifestyle?”
With Bude taking the top spot, other top Cornish destinations also made the top ten, including Falmouth, Lostwithiel, and Wadebridge.
The full rankings for 2026 are:
- Bude
- Cawsand and Kingsand
- Falmouth
- Lostwithiel
- Penzance
- St Newlyn East
- Truro
- Wadebridge
Hero Brown, the founder and editor-in-chief of Muddy Stilettos added: “When people decide to move, they’re searching for more than just a house - they want a home, a lifestyle that works for them and their family, and if they’re strategic, a long-term investment too. Our 2026 ‘Top 260 Best Places To Live’ guide will give them that extra reassurance they need to make their search easier in these difficult economic times.”
