SAINSBURY'S Bude supported Sports Relief recently by setting an overall target of £576 to be raised for this worthy cause.
Three colleagues from Bude — Lesley Blake Bertram, customer services manager; Debbie Cowling, HR
manager, and Linda Harris, checkout operator — all braved the cold and rain in Exeter to run the Sports Mile, with Justin King (executive of Sainsbury's Supermarkets), and Julie Morton (Regionals Operations Manager).
Members of staff also took part in an in-store-cycle on exercise bikes over three days, and some staff members went along to support the Mile Run at Bude Canal on Sunday, March 21 with collection buckets.
Bude Tennis Club held their own events on Saturday, March 20 and kindly donated all their proceeds to Sainsbury's Bude. Joan Coney of Bude Tennis Club presented a cheque in store for £95 to Lesley Blake Bertram and Beckie Chirgwin (PR Ambassador).
In total the store managed to beat their target of £576 and raised a total of £675 for Sport Relief.
A spokesman for the store said "We are very pleased to be able to support this charity to help transform the lives in some of the poorest countries, and also being able to help our local community as UK charities also benefit from funds raised through Sport Relief."
