PLANS for a health centre at Budehaven Community School were approved at a meeting of North Cornwall District Council's Planning and Development Committee on Tuesday, January 6.

A site visit had previously taken place to look into the application, submitted by Cornwall County Council, which sought permission to extend an existing bungalow within the college site and change its use from an exam facility into a health centre.

The centre will be used by school pupils during school hours with community use being confined to out of hours when the adjacent car park is available.

The county council said the centre would provide an opportunity for pupils to talk and learn and enable them to make healthy choices in an environment where they can talk in confidence away from the school location.
