Sixth Form students at Budehaven Community School are celebrating as the school once again achieved excellent post 16 results.
More students than in any previous year sat their exams, and the pass rate was 96 per cent. Over half (51 per cent) of all exams taken by the 125 students were passed at grades A and B with 24 per cent being graded A, the best in the school's history.
Headteacher, David Barton was delighted with the results. He said: "Many people have worked extremely hard to gain such wonderful results, most significantly the students themselves. A number of individuals have exceeded their expectations and are justifiably celebrating today.
"Not only am I pleased for the students, but I am also thrilled for the teachers who have worked so hard with them to make today's success possible."
Rowan Tindall gained three grade As and a grade B and will now study History at St Hugh's College, Oxford.
Stacey Bluett and Sophie Thomsett both gained grade As in all three of their subjects, Stacey has already been offered a scholarship to read Geography at Aberystwyth, and Sophie is looking forward to reading English and French at Leeds University. Sophie, who writes professionally in the national music press also gained 100 points in one of her English Literature papers, a fantastic achievement.
During recent years Budehaven has expanded its curriculum in order to provide a variety of Level 3 courses that better suit the diversity of talents that the school attracts. As well as success at A level this year, the results in Budehaven's BTEC Sport (Outdoor Adventure) Level 3 course are outstanding with 10 of the 15 students gaining a triple Distinction.
