PA23/01997: An outline planning application for up to two new dwellings with all matters reserved except for access for land in Crackington Haven has been withdrawn by the applicants.
Mr R Ward had applied to Cornwall Council for the works at his land north of Kenwyn, Crackington Haven, Bude.
Prior to being withdrawn, the application had attracted 17 comments from members of the public, with 15 objections.
Mr Tiki Yates had said: “Whilst I am not an opponent of managed, reasonable, necessary, and nuanced development (even in an AONB) I cannot see that this proposal meets any definition of the community greater good. The proposed houses will be beyond the economic range of many local people, and accordingly will almost certainly become empty second homes at best. Additionally, as others have said here, there is no existing structure, which would normally be a prerequisite for any application of this nature. If granted they will ruin the treasured views and privacy (of full-time residents), obscure light, increase traffic, contribute further to already significant run off/water issues amongst other things. I can see NO good reason to grant this and accordingly I must object to this inappropriate application.”
Mrs Michele Cobb added: “Where we live, this is the only view of the sea (on a clear day) that we have. Me and my 87 year old mother are housebound and the views here keep us going - for want of a better way of explaining. Also, I believe that the possible increase in traffic would not be useful for the roads and people in this village. If the houses are to be used as holiday rentals, then noise could also be an issue as we all love the peace and quiet here.”
St Genny’s Parish Council also hit out at the proposals, issuing a strong objection.
However, before a decision was made by Cornwall Council, the application was withdrawn.
