THE military students from Duchy College Stoke Climsland have been helping those in Ukraine with a unique idea — teddies with backstories.

Students have been collecting supplies to help the families in Ukraine that have been left without homes and possessions, they have collected food, hygiene products, food, clothing and teddies.

The students are going the extra mile, by creating a little back story for each teddy, giving them a name and personality. They have attached these to each Teddy, written in both English and Ukrainian.

Jon Stone, programme manager, said: “We wanted to give the kids of Ukraine something more than being handed a teddy, this way they know where the teddies have come from & that we are all behind them”

Student, Lakotah Cook, who is volunteering with the supply drive, said that she and her fellow students “are just trying to put a smile on the faces of families that have lost everything”.

She added: “We wanted to give them hope and let them know that there is support for them all around the globe.”
