A PROUD mayor was full of praise for his town after the St Peter’s Fair week came to a close.

Across the St Peter’s Fair Week, a packed calendar of events saw the proud town of Holsworthy gather to enjoy the wide variety of entertainment and traditional fares on offer.

Cllr Jon Hutchings, the mayor of Holsworthy, said: “It was great to be part of the event and it was a great success. On the Wednesday, we had a fair lunch which was very good with 163 people joining us for lunch where I was able to give them a talk about volunteering and managed to hold a speech with my different hats on, quite literally, in my capacities of mayor, pub landlord and being on the fair entertainment committee.”

During the speech, Cllr Hutchings thanked those who helped with the fair week and said that he hoped to encourage more people to volunteer around the town.

“Other events were praised too, with Cllr Hutchings adding: “The music in the square was really well attended and there were several amazing bands although I have to say Friday Night were my favourites, especially as it turned the square into a 90s style rave which was good fun.

“There was lots going on in and about the town, and we were blessed to have some excellent weather.

“Hopefully everyone enjoyed the St Peter’s Fair Week, and I am very proud of the town and think it was a wonderful occasion. The fair week is about bringing the community together, and that’s what as a fair committee that’s what we try and do.

“With my mayor’s hat on, I am very proud of the town and it all being brought together. It’s great to be a part of it.”
