BUDE Inner Wheel meetings have been continuing in the usual spirit of fellowship throughout the winter months.
Several members recently travelled to Redruth for a district meeting at the Penventon Hotel. They had coffee and chat on arrival followed by an excellent lunch after which they were tasked with electing the new committee for the coming year. After good natured cajoling and persuasion this was done to everyone’s satisfaction.
On Thursday, March 22, 130 members and friends of the Inner Wheel Club of Bude sat down to a charity lunch in the Parkhouse Centre.
This was the 32nd annual charity meal and after a few words of welcome from president, Andrea Surgeoner, a cold buffet of a wide variety of salads and cold meats followed by some delicious desserts was served.
All of the food had been made and was served by members.
Roy Dinshaw on piano provided musical accompaniment to the meal. Once the raffle was drawn and prizes distributed, which contributed a goodly sum towards the proceedings,
Andrea thanked all those who had supported the event, especially those who had worked so hard to prepare and serve the meal.
She extended her thanks to the Falcon Hotel for the loan of cutlery, crockery and table linen and to Wyvale Garden Centre for the loan of plants.
The president’s chosen charities Cornwall Air Ambulance and Bude Sea Pool will be beneficiaries of a substantial amount as a result of the day.
