A PRIEST in Launceston has agreed to step back from ministry for a time following discussion with the Bishop of Truro.
The Diocese of Truro has confirmed that Rev Michael Dobson, priest in charge of Launceston St Mary's with Upper Tamar churches, has stepped back from ministry.
While the reason for this has not been detailed by the body, it has expressed that this is a ‘neutral act’ and does not relate to any ‘child related safeguarding concerns.’
A spokesperson from the Diocese, told the Post: “Following discussions with the Bishop of Truro, the Revd Michael Dobson has agreed to step back from ministry.
“This is a neutral act. This action does not relate to any child related safeguarding concerns.
“We are unable to comment further at this time and ask that you do not speculate, but continue to hold all those involved in your prayers.”
The diocese has expressed that while cover will be in place, the position of priest is not vacant and thus no replacement will be sought.
Rev Michael declined to comment.
