Those who speak a little Cornish may know that ‘vean’ is the Cornish for ‘little’ — Teddy Vean is indeed a little bear and many of these endearing soft toys have been created by Egloskerry Knitting Bee for local children.

In July the Reception year at Launceston Primary School were delighted to be the first recipients of the bear.

Every Teddy Vean is different just as every child is different. Rev Alison Hardy engaged the class with the story of one-legged Joe who had to overcome questions (‘what happened to your leg?’) before he was able to make new friends.

Learning that difference is important and to be valued, each child chose their own bear to take home and love.
