WESTERN Power Distribution (WPD), the electricity distribution network operator for the South West, has opened a new £3-million operational depot at Bude’s Stratton Business Park, which runs on solar energy.

The depot has been constructed to the highest environmental standards and has been awarded an excellent rating by the world’s leading environmental assessment process, BREEAM.

BREEAM is also the UK standard for excellence in building design, procurement and construction. In addition, the depot has been awarded an A+ rated energy performance certificate from the Energy Saving Trust.
