PA22/11411: A reserved matters application for appearance, landscaping, layout and scale and details relating to the discharge of Conditions 4 and 6 of Outline approval PA21/06354 dated 14th September 2021 (Plot 4) has been approved by Cornwall Council.
The application concerns the property known as Bingera Cottage, Madeira Drive, Widemouth Bay, Bude and was made by Mr D Parsons.
There were three objections to the planning application.
Mrs Sally Lux said: “I am objecting to the proposed re development of the land in question where the current property Bingera sits. The planned new builds will be totally out of place and significantly obstruct light to the existing bungalows that sit very close to the current top boundary and tower in front of them . I also feel it is overdeveloping the site and if passed will set a precedent for other properties with a bit of spare land. I feel this will slowly spoil the feel of the area for which so many of us have chosen to live here.”
Mr Timothy Lux said: “I object to this application, sharing Poundstock Parish Council's concerns under CLP12, regarding the bulk and mass of this development in relation to the adjacent properties, which are predominantly bungalows. The development would be overbearing.
“It also isn't clear what would happen to the existing telegraph pole carrying LV power lines to neighbouring properties, which appears to be positioned across the entrance to the proposed development.”
Miss Hayley Brown added: “I live directly behind the development. I accept that change will happen, but do feel this plan will comply ruin the outlook from my home and for the residents in our street.”
Poundstock Parish Council said it had grave concerns about the proposals, saying: “ Poundstock Parish Council OBJECTS to this proposal with the following concerns: -
“1. PPC has grave concerns at the extent of proposed excavation works, the viability and detail of the retaining wall at the southern end on the development, and requests any approval be conditional on a structural engineer's calculations.
“2. PPC has concerns with regard to the scale, overlooking and massing upon the site (CLP 12) in relation to the adjacent properties.”
In a further response to the local council protocol, the council maintained its objection, adding: “option 2 - Agree to disagree (whereby comments remain on record but agree to delegated approval).”
