BUDE'S lip-reading class was honoured with a visit from Sheila Pullen and her hearing dog Qubert recently.
Class members were able to see for themselves how a trained dog can assist someone with a hearing loss.
Qubert has been helping Sheila for several years, alerting her to her text phone ringing, her doorbell, her smoke alarm and even waking her up in the morning.
Sheila knows the value of lip-reading classes, having attended one in Ilfracombe, and has visited the Bude class before.
Members have recently been saving postage stamps to help Hearing Dogs for the Deaf raise funds for training more dogs.
