THERE is set to be approximately five weeks of traffic disruption in the Tintagel area during September as part of works to upgrade the town’s drinking water network.

South West Water has confirmed that from September 21, there will be multi way temporary traffic lights in place on Bossiney Road.

Access to properties will be limited during the working hours of the upgrade project.

The works will add additional pipes to the clean water network in the area.

During the period of the works, there will be limited access to properties in the affected area between 7.30am and 5pm.

The works will be undertaken by contractors Clancy on behalf of South West Water.

A spokesperson for South West Water said: “We are installing additional mains water pipes in the Tintagel area to protect the drinking water supply.

The work will start around September 21 and should take around five weeks to complete. Bossiney Road will have multi-way traffic signals in place to manage traffic during this time.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience. There will be limited access to properties within the working area during the working day between the hours of 7.30am and 5pm. We will be able to work with customers for emergency and agreed access between these times by use of road plates. Other services will be unaffected.

“If we need to interrupt your water supply for more than two hours, we will let you know in writing at least 48 hours in advance.

“The additional pipes we are adding to the network will help with the supply to planned developments in the area and mean less disruption in case of emergencies. This is part of a larger scheme across the region to strengthen our network to allow for future demand and climate change.”
