FOLLOWING a water outage in and around Launceston, South West Water is establishing water stations.

Customers in the PL15 area awoke today (March 3) to find that their water supply was running poorly or not at all. It comes after a water main in Trebartha was damaged by a third party.

Now, after a number of schools and businesses have been forced to close, the water supplier has said it is working on repairs and has even started setting up bottled water stations.

A spokesperson for South West Water told the Post: “We are recharging our drinking water network after our teams worked through the night to repair a damaged water main in Trebartha which was damaged by a third party. This has to be done carefully to avoid damaging the pipes.

“This means, some customers may be experiencing a temporary loss of water supply or low pressure. We are delivering bottled water to our vulnerable customers and are in the process of setting up bottled water stations.

“We thank customers for their patience whilst our teams work to return all supplies as quickly as possible."
