CHILDREN in Years 1 to 6 at St Petroc's School, Bude, last week stood up in front of their teachers and peers to deliver their poems as part of the annual Headmaster's Poetry Recital Competition.

The winner of each year group has been put forward to represent the school at the Wadebridge Festival of Music and Speech.

The festival invites schools from all over the county to perform is in its 90th year and runs from March 2 at Wadebridge Town Hall.

Headmaster Dan Thornburn said: "The children delivered their poems with expression and confidence.

"We strongly believe in giving our pupils, starting from those right down in Reception, every opportunity to speak and perform to build their confidence. It was a great pleasure to see them perform so well."
