HOLSWORTHY had a 33-shot lead going into the second game.

Building on that success with a 23-shot win in the second match gave Holsworthy a comprehensive winning margin of 56.

Ladies Section

Rosebowl — Friday, August 30

THE Ladies Rosebowl was played for last Friday on a warm, sunny afternoon.

After an enjoyable afternoon’s bowling, the ladies retired to the pavilion for tea and cake before competition secretary Barbara Phoenix announced that the joint winners were Janet Hiller and Ann Reece-Pinchin, who will share the Rosebowl.

Barbara Crook was then presented with a consolation prize of chocolates.

President Sue Plumstead thanked Barbara for organising the afternoon and Tricia Dixon for organising the refreshments.

HOLSWORTHY won the Ted Hope Cup for the first time since 2015 after a 133-78 aggregate victory.

After winning their home rink 74-42, the visitors then recorded a 59-36 victory in the return leg to seal their success.

Kensey Vale Bowling Club

Club tour to Warwickshire

FORTY bowlers and friends headed to Warwickshire recently for their 2018 club tour, which was based at the Mercure Brandon Hall Hotel and Spa in Coventry.

Four matches were played with Kensey Vale winning each contest which saw them head to Coventry (Stoke Bowling Club), Stratford-upon-Avon (Avon Bowling Club), Rugby (The Grange Bowling Club), and Cullompton (Culm Vale Bowling Club).

A free day was enjoyed at The National Bowls Championships at Leamington Spa, where the previous week Kensey Vale members had great success.

Nicola Gilbert reached the semi-final in the Two Wood Singles, which took place from August 14 to 16 while Bernie Dyer, Alex Crichton, Nick Trewin and Peter Gilbert were quarter-finalists in the Fours, which spanned two days from August 20 to 21.

All of the players were representing Cornwall after winning their respective county finals.

A club spokesperson said: These were great achievements and they did Kensey Vale and Cornwall proud.”

KENSEY Vale’s ladies have won the Group Two Date League.

They now go to Redruth on Wednesday, September 12, to compete in the County Finals.

The Rippon team also did well, coming a very close second in their league.

Croydon Marks final at Kensey Vale — Tuesday, August 21

STRATTON won yet more silverware in 2018 after beating Liskeard by just two shots in the Division One Knockout Cup (aka Croydon Marks) final at Kensey Vale.

The teams were all level after seven and 14 ends, and despite falling behind, Stratton showed why they reached the County Finals recently by pressing on in the closing stages to sneak victory by two points.
