Bude Bowling Club

BUDE Bowling Club held their opening day of the new season last Saturday (April 15) in perfect conditions.

Played in sunshine but with a cool wind, secretary Richard March introduced Kathy Smeeth, a director of the Budehaven Recreation Ground Company, who said the green looked in good condition and thanked the green keeper for all his hard work.

She wished the club well and handed the green over to president Sue Plumstead who thanked Kathy, agreeing that the green was looking in wonderful condition. Sue welcomed everyone and said how good it was to see the new members there.

The first wood of the 2017 season was delivered by Colin Gardiner who is a life member of the club.

The afternoon began with a spider, which was won by Tricia Dixon and was followed by eighteen ends of bowling.

Afterwards, members joined together in the pavilion for a wonderful faith tea.

Sue thanked everyone for providing the tea and those who had worked in the kitchen. She said how well the green had played and thanked green keeper Andrew Wise for the work he had done. She looked forward to meeting everyone on the green throughout the season.
