BUDE will look to build on their recent victories over St Austell Seconds and Bodmin tomorrow afternoon when they welcome Launceston Castles to Bencoolen Meadow in Counties Two Cornwall (2.30pm).

The Seasiders are down in fifth following relegation and saw last weekend’s fixture at Perranporth postponed, but such is the tight nature of the division, they are only six points behind second-placed Helston who welcome leaders Camborne Seconds to Clodgy Lane.

Bude are undergoing somewhat of a rebuild as they continue to blend seasoned performers with some of last year’s exciting Colts, and will start as firm favourites against a Launceston side who have won just twice all season.

But head coach Sam Parker has to do without three of his most experienced players as scrum-half Olly Mounce and versatile backs Ed Hilliam-Cooke and Olly Denford are unavailable for various reasons, while Oscar Davey is also missing.

One bit of good news is that Ollie Rowland has recovered from injury quicker than expected and starts in Mounce’s place, while the pack is close to full strength.

In the backs, Rowland resumes his partnership with Brad Thomas, while regular full-back Will Pharo continues at inside-centre with Hilliam-Cooke and Denford out.

Youngsters Blaine Wickett and Josh Rowland are on the wings, while another recent graduate of the Colts system – Cobi Yelland – lines up at full-back.

From the side that eased past Bodmin 13 days ago, regular skipper Will Hockridge, Alex Robinson and Finley Fry all return to the pack as the unavailable Davey and Chris Hill drop out, as does Bailey Fackrell who is on the bench alongside club legend and former joint head coach Joe Wilson who has recovered from injury.

Elsewhere around the club this weekend, the Colts visit Newquay/Truro in the Cornwall Colts League for a midday kick-off at the Newquay Sports Centre, while on Sunday the ladies entertain Cullompton in Women’s NC 2 South West (West).
