Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Five, Six and Seven East latest round-up

HOLSWORTHY Seconds remain bottom of the Division Five table after being well beaten at Bugle on Saturday.

A decent effort in the field restricted their hosts to 162-9 as Aaron Squirrell (3-13) took three late wickets after Brodi Wonnacott (2-20) and Ryan Smith (2-55) shared four. However, they were then bundled out for just 49, Wonnacott’s 17 being the best.

Launceston Seconds lost by six wickets at leaders Buckland Monachorum. Thirties from Phil Spry (36) and Josh Theobald (32) helped them reach 110 all out, before Will Mansfield (2-22) impressed in the chase.

Luckett Seconds ran into Dan Pethick at Gunnislake as his 116 not out guided the hosts to a nine-wicket win. Earlier, Thomas Rickard made 53 in their 143-9.

In Division Six East, South Petherwin Seconds closed the gap on leaders St Stephen Seconds after beating the Clay Country outfit by five wickets.

Ollie Petersen’s 2-15 from 10 overs restricted the visitors to 183-5 before skipper Richard Watson (49), Ian Clements (41), Petersen (44) and Trevor Dingle (28no) got the job done.

Simon Fry claimed career best figures of 5-14 from 10 overs as Tintagel Seconds thrashed their understrength St Minver counterparts by eight wickets. The away side could only muster 52 all out with Freddie Knowles taking 4-26.

Bude Seconds earned a seven-wicket success over visiting St Neot twos.

Youngster Josh Hicks took 3-32 before Peter Ellis’ 5-34 kept the moorlanders to 145 all out. Matt Whitefield then made 70 not out.

Werrington Fourths were beaten at St Austell Fourths by 36 runs despite Grace Kirby (3-37) and Emma Horrell (2-33) sharing five wickets. Matt Chatfield made 36 in their 131-8.

Edward Mansfield claimed 4-50 for Launceston Thirds on Sunday at their Saltash counterparts, but they were 115 all out in pursuit of 231.
