TINTAGEL Seconds picked up 26 points in their quest for promotion and went top of the table in the process following their weekend double-header.

The Knights’ home clash with their St Neot counterparts in Division Seven East on Saturday was the only game to go ahead in Division Two East and below.

A 25-over match saw Tintagel rack up a hefty 184-1 as opener Simon Harrison made an unbeaten 94.

He shared an opening stand of 131 with Chris Lovegrove who was bowled by Ben Preston for 31, before Joe Parsons added a rapid 32 not out.

St Neot then slipped to just 64 all-out in reply having been 43-2.

Stephen Hayes departed for 12 to Harry Daly (3-22) who had already helped himself to two, and although surviving opener Malcolm Copplestone batted through, change bowlers Freddie Knowles and Rocco Reynolds proved too good.

Knowles took 2-6 from his five overs, while Reynolds needed just 22 legal delivieries to claim the superb figures of 4-1 which included two maidens.

Tintagel visited Lanhydrock Thirds on Sunday without both Harrison, Parsons and Ben Jarram amongst others.

After being sent in, they were dismissed for 122 from 35.4 overs, eventually not a bad score after slipping to 69-5.

Number five Mark Luxton made a fine 50 from 48 deliveries which included five fours and three sixes, but the rest struggled against Harvey Brown and Wilbur Grimes who both took four-fers.

Tintagel put in a heroic shift in the field, coming with in a wicket of winning.

Lanhydrock fell to 54-6 as opening bowlers Harry Daly (3-15 off 10) and Rocco Reynolds (2-38 off 10) shared five wickets, but the home side battled back despite Freddie Knowles’ 3-25.

Lanhydrock tied the scores off the final ball of the 39th over, but a single off the penultimate ball got them over the line.
