AUSTRALIAN fast bowler Jack Minehan will return for a second successive year as Tintagel Cricket Club look to build on a superb summer.
The Knights made an instant return to Division Two East in 2025 as runners-up to Menheniot-Looe, while the seconds finally got out of Division Seven East behind champions St Neot Seconds.
Minehan, 19, took 25 league wickets in his first UK stint and has since been playing for Terranora Lakes CC up in the Gold Coast, and with everybody else staying and Jonny Centini arriving from St Minver, they will fancy their chances of survival.
First team skipper Matt Jolliffe said: “Jack was superb last year for us, so it’s a no-brainer to have him back, while Jonny joining is also a good signing as he’ll fit into our middle-order and send down some useful overs of off-spin when required.
“We’re still talking to a couple of other players about joining, but we’ll see what happens.”
Indoor nets start at Launceston College on Wednesday, March 4 from 8pm to 9pm and run for five weeks until April 1, before going outside.
They will then train for a fortnight before two friendlies against local opposition as they visit neighbours St Minver on April 18 before welcoming league rivals Wadebridge Seconds the following Saturday.
The first team start their league season at Lanhydrock on May 2, while the seconds host their Saltash counterparts on the same day.
The club also recently held their annual general meeting which included seeing first team wicketkeeper Sam Abbott take over as chairman from Beth Fry.
The officers for 2026 are: President/Secretary – Steve Brown; Chairman – Sam Abbott; Vice-chairman – Jordan Burnard; Treasurer – Caroline Fry; First Team Captain – Matt Jolliffe; First Team Vice-captain – Ryan Pooley; Second Team Captain – Dave Lane; Second Team Vice-captain – Aaron Washer; Head Groundsman – Stephen Fry; Social Media Manager – Natalie Pethick; Youth Co-ordinator – Jack Minehan/Ryan Pooley.
