ALTHOUGH there is a fair chance that the poor weather over the last few days will put pay to some of the local football tomorrow, there is plenty on offer should it go ahead.

Improving Launceston will face an acid test of their credentials when they welcome leaders Exmouth Town to Pennygillam in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division (3pm).

The Clarets, who are being run on the pitch by a four-man committee compromising Lee Rundle, Mike Burke, club coach Matt Hodgetts and football secretary Keith Ellacott, following the resignation of Mike Walton in February, have picked up four points from their last three games including a solid 0-0 draw at Elburton Villa on Saturday.

However, they will have to put in their best performance of the season if they are to pick up any reward, with Town eight points clear at the top of the table.

Callington Town were left aggrieved during last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at home to Falmouth Town after Dan Jefferis was red-carded with more than an hour of the game remaining.

However, they played well and were it not for the heroics of visiting goalkeeper Ryan Barnes, the Marshmen could have picked up just their sixth win of the campaign ahead of tomorrow’s local derby at title-chasing Tavistock.

Although Tavvy are ten points off the top, they do have four games in-hand, meaning the two Post area clubs could potentially have a big say in the title race come 5pm.

In Division One (West), Bude Town could overtake St Blazey and into fourth from bottom if they can get the better of the Green and Blacks at Blaise Park tomorrow.

The Seasiders — despite a setback last weekend at home to Wendron United — have shown a significant improvement in recent weeks and will be confident of picking up just a second away win of the season.

Holsworthy have no game.

Just three Post area clubs are in action tomorrow across the Mortgage Advice Bureau East Cornwall League.

In the Premier, Callington Reserves welcome their Torpoint Athletic counterparts to Ginsters Marsh (3pm) while in Division One, St Teath will look to bounce back from their derby day defeat at St Minver by picking up their first win of the season at home to title-chasing St Stephen.

St Minver are also right in the title hunt, but are in cup action as they entertain Newquay Reserves (2.30pm) in the quarter-final of the Roy Radford Memorial Division One Cup.

As ever, the JJ Jones and Sons Duchy League has a fairly packed programme as they approach the run-in.

In the Premier, North Petherwin have no game, but Boscastle will be desperate to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat at home to Veryan last weekend when they go to leaders Foxhole Stars.

In Division One, Stoke Climsland continue their quest for back-to-back promotions when they make the short trip to Saltash United thirds. Although they are two points behind leaders St Dominick, they have five games in-hand and know that a maximum of nine points from their final seven fixtures will see them back in the top-flight.

St Dominick have a tough test at St Cleer so the points required could be even less come 4.30pm.

Four clubs look to be battling it out for third spot, with one of those being Gunnislake. They drew 2-2 at St Cleer last Saturday and will hope for three points when they entertain Tregrehan Mills.

At the other end of the table, North Hill will look to earn their first win of the season at Holywell and Cubert.

Altarnun require a maximum of 11 points from their final fixtures to claim the Division Two crown ahead of tomorrow’s home game with Grampound.

The village club eased past Lamerton Community 3-0 last weekend and will hope for more of the same against the strugglers.

Tintagel also look destined to go up ahead of tomorrow’s trip to bottom side St Columb Major. They are currently eight points behind Altarnun but crucially for them, have a game in-hand and a home clash with the leaders on March 30, meaning any slip-ups could be punished.

In Division Three, leaders Pensilva could take a giant step towards the title in their derby clash with Liskeard Athletic thirds while struggling Southgate Seniors could move six points clear of second-bottom Calstock if they can win on their long trip to St Eval Spitfires.

Top-of-the-table Bude Town Reserves can all but secure the Division Four crown when they welcome nearest challengers Nanpean Rovers to Broadclose Park.

Both sides have six fixtures remaining but with Bude four points clear and yet to lose, it will take an incredible collapse for them to not lift the title come the end of April if they win.

Regardless of what happens, both sides are likely to be in Division Three next season as third-placed Lifton Reserves are 11 points back having again played 16 matches.

They entertain Newmoor Rovers who incredibly have played just 11 of their 22 fixtures and could yet mount a late promotion charge.

The other games see North Petherwin Reserves entertain mid-table Delabole United and Week St Mary welcome bottom side St Mawgan Reserves.

In the North Devon League Senior Division, Shebbear United can enjoy their final four games knowing they’re safe for another year. They welcome Torrington Reserves who are four points further back with a game in-hand.

In Intermediate One, there’s an intriguing derby at Upcott Field as Holsworthy welcome Kilkhampton while Bridgerule — fresh off a 4-0 win last Saturday — entertain Northam Lions at Vinnicombe Park.

Like the Premier, there are no Post area clubs in action in Intermediate Two but there are three sides in action in Intermediate Three.

Bradworthy Reserves have a tough test at home to champions-elect Lynton while their Shebbear United counterparts and Ashwater are on the road at Hartland Clovelly thirds and Eastside respectively.

In the Macron Devon and Exeter League, both Halwill sides are in action.

The first team go to Priory having only thrashed their opponents 8-0 on February 23 while promotion-chasing Halwill Reserves, who beat their Feniton counterparts 5-0 on the same date, welcome the village club to Halwill Junction.
