Bude Town 3 St Day 0

BUDE ensured a vital home victory on Saturday by easing past strugglers St Day 3-0 at Broadclose Park.

The visitors, who went into the game third from bottom, found themselves a goal down inside four minutes as a long ball over the top was attempted to be cleared by the St Day keeper. He was well closed down by Dylan Morgan and the ball fell in the path of striker Tornado Bello who made no mistake with a lovely chipped finish.

Bude however were very nearly pegged back two minutes later, a regulation catch was spilt by Bude keeper Ty Rowe and dispatched in to the net by the St Day striker, only for the assistant to flag for offside.

It was a lifeline the Seasiders accepted with both hands. Playing fluid, passing football, they doubled their lead in the 34th minute when some smart play on the left by Harrison Swatton saw him through one-on-one. The away keeper made a smart save but it was well followed in by new right-back Ericson Okonkwo who raced onto the rebound.

Bude controlled the second half and never looked likely to concede as Bello wasted a few decent chances to add to his increasing tally.

However, the striker did complete his brace in the 84th minute when more smart work from Swatton saw him taken down in the box and a penalty awarded. Bello dispatched the spot-kick to round off a fine day for the Seasiders.
