Fun competition — Thursday, October 25

IT WAS a fun competition a fortnight ago when the ladies played in teams of three with two scores to count on the card from The Point at Polzeath.

An interesting and challenging format but hugely enjoyed by those taking part.

The winners were the team of Carole Hutchinson, Julie Finch and Liz Hicks with 78 points from the trio of Wendy Collins, Pam Wevill and Irene Bessell on 76 points.

Men’s Section

Frank Wills Salver — Sunday, October 28

THE men’s Wills Salver team travelled to Bowood Park near Camelford to play against Bude.

Scoring was difficult on a very blustery day and with the greens running very fast, even the shortest putts were a challenge.

The North Coast club handled the conditions slightly better and ran out 4.5-0.5 winners.

Cornwall Bowl (second-round) — Saturday, November 3

THE men’s county winter competitions continued on Saturday with Launceston’s Cornwall Bowl team playing in the second-round of the competition at Bowood Park near Camelford against the team from St Enodoc.

On a grey damp and windy morning, the boys had to dig deep at the start but got the better of the conditions and of the opposition to win each match for a 5-0 win.

Despite the apparent ease of the final victory, the matches were close, well fought and played in great spirit.

The team was Paul Hicks and Peter Penhorwood, Derek Basford and Ernie Best, Dan Sloman and Steve Greenaway, Joe Dickinson and Mark Fear, Ian Huggins and Darren Chapman.

The quarter-final will be played in early 2019.
