BRENDA and John Luckett from Hartland recently held their annual two-day motorcycle trials school in memory of their son, Martyn.

The event has been held for more than 20 years and next year will be the last.

Martyn died in 2005, aged 19, of a heart condition, and since then his family has raised funds in his memory for the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to pay for heart screenings.

Martyn was a keen motorcycle trials rider, and the event was a fitting tribute to his memory.

This year’s trials brought 73 riders, plus many friends and family. There were two days of training, a barbecue with a live band and bar, plus a large draw.

Brenda said she was delighted with the event and how much was raised — £3,000.

“We have a lot of loyal friends who have helped us raise this money and lots more over the years. Thank you to everyone.”
