CORNISH All Blacks joint head coaches Ian Goldsmith and Ryan Westren have made four changes from last Saturday’s agonising loss at Hornets for the visit of Ivybridge to Polson Bridge tomorrow (3pm).

Launceston went down 17-15 in Weston-super-Mare last weekend due to a late Charlie Carter penalty, that despite the visitors enjoying the lion’s share of possession at the Nest.

Their bonus point, plus the three they picked up in defeats to Exeter University (76-26) and Exmouth (31-25) means they are one of five teams yet to win, although Old Centralians (twice) and Drybrook have drawn.

But if the All Blacks can beat Ivybridge who have won just once themselves, then they can head into next weekend’s local derby at bottom side Okehampton full of confidence.

The front row is changed for the first time this season as loosehead-prop Jake Keat is injured, meaning an opportunity for Alex Bartlett, while the other changes in the pack see Leion Cole given a debut at blindside-flanker in place of Charlie Tummon who is nursing a knock, while summer signing Rupert Freestone is back, this time at number eight, with Brandon Rowley dropping to the bench.

There is just one alteration in the backs with Tom ‘Gravel’ Sandercock coming in for Dom Mulberry at scrum-half.

On the bench, Jake Crabb makes a first appearance of the season and will add plenty of height and physicality when he enters the fray.

Ivybridge make the trip up the A388 buoyed by a convincing win over Okehampton last weekend after successive trips to Somerset.

After losing 39-24 at Hornets on matchday one, they were then defeated 21-7 by Hornets’ town rivals Weston-super-Mare 21-7.

Like Launceston they have joint coaches in Gareth Elliott and Jamie Tripconey, and boast former Plymouth Albion centre Cam Setter amongst their team.

Bude have won three from three in the Cornwall/Devon League and will fancy their chances of continuing their run of form when they host winless Liskeard-Looe at Bencoolen Meadow.

The North Cornwall side edged past tough challenges from visiting Withycombe and Cullompton before earning a much more comfortable 33-14 success at Hayle last weekend, that despite having several key players missing.

Player/coach Angus Hodges is back this week, while the front row is at full strength with Chris Allin back from honeymoon and Matt Williams available for the first time this season.

With a lack of back-row options available, inside-centre Ed Hilliam-Cooke moved to the blindside flanker role with Hodges coming in on the openside.

In the backs, Hilliam-Cooke’s spot at 12 goes to Kyle Speare, while Rory Hodges is chosen on the right-wing.

Liskeard travel without number eight Fred Cozens who is replaced by Michael Porter who will start at hooker.

Skipper Nathan Wills shifts to the back of the scrum with Archie Doidge moving from Porter’s spot to openside-flanker.

In the backs, Jay Mason moves back to scrum-half with Billy Wildgoose starting on the right-wing, while Jacob Noel-Johnson’s absence sees Jordan Smith go inside to 13, and Ieuan Evans to 12.

Billy Edwards’ red card last weekend means Mikel Delage comes on to the left-wing as they hope for a first victory of the campaign.

They head up the A38 to East Devon to tackle a Withycombe side who have drawn and lost two of their three outings.

Saltash head coach Steve Down again has to name himself on the bench with plenty of players once again unavailable.

In Cornwall One, Bodmin will hope to bounce back from their late defeat at Helston when they welcome Illogan Park to Clifden Park.

Dave Saunter’s side were edged out 22-17, but crucially picked up a bonus point for finishing within seven points.

Illogan have won both their completed games so far in convincing fashion at Lankelly-Fowey (35-19) and at home to St Agnes (35-7), so are sure to provide a tough challenge.

In Cornwall Two, Camelford make the trip down to Redruth looking for a response to their 48-7 loss to Perranporth.

The Ford were awarded a home walkover by Stithians on matchday one, but will be confident of tasting victory at Station Hill, against a side who are normally bottom of the Cornish rugby pyramid.
