THE end of October and start of November have seen members of Launceston Road Runners really racking up the miles in running events at home and abroad.

The Tavy 7 on Sunday, October 26, was a big outing for the club, with 14 members taking part in this event around beautiful moorland.

David Thomson was first in his age category with a time of 47 minutes and 46 seconds, while Jon Kappes and Martin Hynes were second in their age categories, with times of 46:32 and 57:57 respectively.

The Rosemullion 10k – held in Mawnan-Smith near Falmouth and part of the Cornish Multi-Terrain Race Series – took place the same day with Linda Pickard representing Launceston Runners and coming fourth in her age category with a time of 1:07:22. Congratulations to everyone who took part!

November is off to a flying start with several long-distance race results.

On Saturday, November 1, Nick Smith took part in the Off the Tarmac Ultra 30 Mile race, coming in with a time of 6:52:21.

The next day saw Jeanette Johnson run the New York Marathon in the United States of America with a storming time of 3:13:34, coming 12th in her age group of 1,500 runners!

Meanwhile, on this side of the Atlantic, the popular Bideford 10 Miler took place, with Peter McAughey (1:19:55), Jenny Mills (1:20:31), Martin Hynes (1:20:23), Ian Grimes (1:29:48), Linda Pickard (1:33:26), Emma James (1:36:05), Gabby Lyons (1:50:19) and Lorraine Hawkins (1:50:52) representing LRR and achieving five personal bests between them, with Jenny Mills setting a new club record in a time of 1:20:31.

Launceston Road Runners were out in strength at the Cornish Marathon, which marks the grand finale of the 2025 Cornish Grand Prix road running series before the awards presentation at the Falmouth Mob Match on Sunday, November 23.

This challenging race takes in some spectacular scenery and Cornish landmarks before finishing in Pensilva, with race times as follows: Joe Thomson (3:12:18), Jon Kappes (3:25:33), Darren Evans (3:33:18), David Thomson (3:51:31), Claire Winfield (4:05:55), Peter James (4:13:33), Michaela Barron (4:34:28), Angela Brinicombe (4:44:39), Julie Barriball-Pates (4:56:19), Vikki Savage (5:48:03), Elaine Hill (5:49:08) and Jo Bailey (5:49:09).

Rounding out the start of the month, Joe Thomson completed the Lighthouse Ultra 36 mile race in 6:54:59, coming seventh overall, while Chris and Katie Fowler ran the riviera in the Nice Marathon with times of 3:46:47 and 4:29:36 respectively.

Launceston Road Runners meet at Firebrand Brewery every Tuesday evening at 6.45pm for mixed distance social runs, and every Thursday at 6.30pm for training sessions.

Runners of all abilities and experience levels are very welcome, and for beginners a new Couch to 5K training group will begin on Tuesday, January 20.
