LAUNCESTON Road Runners members completed three long-distance events on Saturday, June 21, including David Starley winning the latest holding of the Jurassic 50km race organised by Climb South West.
The route, which has 1,600 metres of elevation, goes from Lyme Regis to Exmouth on the South West Coast Path, with David securing victory in a time of four hours and 45 minutes.

Jo Bailey and Elaine Hill finished the Cotswolds Way Ultra.
The route started gently having got underway at 8.30am, but it soon turned into a rollercoaster of incredibly steep ascents and descents, with the ladies eventually crossing the 53km finish line some 14 hours later.

The third race involving LRR members on the same day was The Siblython at Siblyback Lake.
This isn’t for the faint-hearted as the eight-hour endurance race sees entrants do laps of the 4.8-km lake with a minimum of three laps required to earn your medal.
A half marathon was 4.4 laps with nine rounds needed to do the marathon.
The times of the Launceston runners were as follows: Darren Evans – 13 laps (7:13:15); Mark Simpson – nine laps (6:15:43); Katie Fowler – six laps (4:10:15).

Joe Thomson headed to the Isles of Scilly on Sunday, June 22 to embark on the Scilly 60 – a unique stage race event involving running around each of the islands – including Bryher, St Agnes, St Mary's, Tresco, and St Martin's.
Each section has a cut-off time as the ferry departs for the next island. Joe’s time of 4:57:41 was enough for second overall.

Earlier in the month, Joe’s father David took on the Dartmoor Discovery on Saturday, June 7.
The 32-mile route, which is known as the longest single lap road ultra marathon in the UK and starts and finishes in Princetown, includes some of the most challenging hills on the moor. David crossed the line in five hours and 33 minutes.
