FIVE ladies from Bude T.A.G.B. Tae Kwon-Do Club are getting a bit of a feisty reputation as they continue to impress all over the country.
This time they travelled to the University of Worcester on Sunday, March 25, to take part in the T.A.G.B. Tae Kwon-Do International English Championships.
The mums, Rachel Stratton and Heather Sirmon, took the art up as they were getting bored sitting on the side and watching their daughters train, and both of them have been successful in regional and national competitions.
Their forte is normally the patterns discipline where they have regularly achieved gold and silver standard, and the girls, Evelyne Sirmon and sisters Millie and Martha Stratton, are beginning to catch their mums up.
Martha has previously won a silver, and at this competition, all three had identical scores but were just outside of the top three places.
Heather decided to enter sparring for this tournament and as well as the silver she secured for her pattern, she also came home with a bronze in the team event.
Heather said: “I would never have considered taking up a martial art if Evelyne hadn’t wanted to do it, but I’m glad she did. We’ve made so many friends and the confidence that the girls now have is a direct result of the training we do.”
All five have already started to prepare for the Welsh Championships in May, and then the big one, the World Championships at the Birmingham Arena towards the end of July.
