FIREWORKS were suspected to have been the cause of a fire at Brea Hill.

Crews from Wadebridge Community Fire Station attended the incident, which required a 15 minute walk on foot due to the remoteness of the location.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “During the night of October 16, we responded to a fire reported on Brea Hill.

“Due to difficult access, the crew had to proceed on foot for around 15 minutes to reach the scene. The fire covered an area of roughly 40 by 20 metres and involved gorse and grass. It was extinguished using beaters.

“The cause is believed to have been accidental, likely linked to nearby fireworks.”
