AN improved Ofsted rating for a school in Bude has been welcomed by staff and governors.

Bude Junior School, which has 270 pupils, received a rating of 'good' at the end of last year. In the previous report it had been judged as 'requires improvement'.

Inspectors said learning, progress, leadership and management and quality of teaching had all improved since its previous inspection.

The school said teaching and progress were praised as outstanding in places.

The inspectors said they were impressed by the pupils, stating that they behave well, are polite and courteous and work hard.

In addition, the Ofsted report states that parents are 'pleased' with the quality of the teaching in the school'.
