FOR the first time since 2019 the annual Bude Animal Friends Awareness Day event took place on the Triangle on Saturday.

Having missed 2020 and 2021, this year was the perfect opportunity to come together again to raise awareness and funds for each cause. Attending were Bude Animal Friends, Animal Free Research UK: Bude Group, Born To Be Wild, Project Prickles Hedgehog Rescue, Hilltop Animal Haven, British Divers Marine Life Rescue, Last Chance Hotel Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Paws Stoat, Weasel & Polecat Rescue, Shebbear Bat Care & Launceston Cats Protection.

The drawing competition had a strong entry. First prizes went to Elodie Angel, Freya Marsom and Jorja McInally. Runners up were Abby Henderson, Frances Angel and George James.

Thanks went to Dave and Tina Banford for sponsoring this competition and Jan Dickerson for bringing her artist’s eye to the judging.

Thanks were also expressed to Bude Baggers, Moo Free Chocolates and Face Painting by Claire for supporting the day.

Steph Jones-Giles said: “We are a supportive network of voluntary groups and charities and have a lot of contact with one another mainly via social media throughout the year.

“Being so busy it is a treat for us all to take a day to come together once a year to catch up, educate and raise some much needed funds.  We all want to thank everyone who came down to support us, it was a beautiful day with many other draws on people’s time and so it is extra special when people make the effort.

“Congratulations to our budding artists too, some excellent entries and six worthy winners.”
