A CONSULTATION has launched seeking the views of Wadebridge residents on proposals to build a ‘pump track’ style facility in the town.
Wadebridge Town Council, alongside its town team is seeking to install the facility in order to further enhance the facilities available for play.
Designed for the use of bikes, scooters, skateboards and other similarly wheeled items, a pump track is a continuous loop of rollers, bumps and banked turns in a circuit style formation.
If successful, it will become the latest town to have such a facility - with the neighbouring town of Bodmin having installed one in late 2024.
A spokesperson said: “Wadebridge Town Council, working in partnership with Wadebridge Town Team, is exploring the possibility of creating a pump track alongside the existing skatepark.
“A pump track is a continuous loop of rollers, bumps, and banked turns designed for bikes, scooters, skateboards and other wheeled activities. Unlike a traditional cycle track, riders generate momentum by 'pumping' their body through the features rather than pedalling — making it a fun, skill-building activity suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities.
“The project is being put forward for funding through Cornwall Council's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and we are currently awaiting a decision on our application. If successful, Wadebridge Town Council would take on full responsibility for the management and maintenance of the pump track, with ongoing costs met by the council and the people of Wadebridge through local precept funding.
“Given this commitment, it is important that the community has a clear say on what they think of this project. Whether you support the idea, have concerns, or would simply like to share your views, we would encourage you to take part in the consultation. Your feedback will help inform future decisions about the project.”
