THE generosity of customers and staff at Morrisons in Bude has raised over £1,000 in aid of Sue Ryder Hospice.

As their Charity of the Year, all Morrisons stores across the country have been raising money as part of a fun fundraising week for the hospice, and Morrisons in Bude have been getting involved.

During the Bude branch’s fundraising week, activities included a book and DVD drive, a raffle, a Peppa Pig colouring competition, amongst countless of other fun activities.

Recently the store held a ‘Road to Rio’ cycle race, which challenged the store to cycle 208 miles. All of these exciting fundraising activities managed to raise over £1,000 for the Sue Ryder Hospice charity.

The store’s people manager, Jane Ovenden, said: “Thank you to all of our staff and customers for their generous contributions for our Charity of the Year.

“Local residents of Bude have always supported the Bude store in any fundraising events, and it shows what a great local community we have.

“Also, a big thank you to Splash Leisure in lending the exercise bike so we could do the cycling challenge.”

The store is always looking to engage with the local community, and is keen to support local groups and charities. For more information on what the Bude store has to offer, contact the store and ask for the community champion, Dave Bradbury.
