A HEDGEHOG which 'ballooned' to at least twice its normal size has been saved by a Bude vet and hopes are high it will make a full recovery.

The literally larger than life hedgehog was taken to the Bude surgery of Locke and Preston, the vets, looking blown up to at least twice its normal size.

Veterinary surgeon Adam Revitt took some X-rays of the hedgehog when it became apparent that its body was full of air and a dignosis of 'balloon syndrome' was made.
