DEVON and Cornwall Police have launched an appeal for information to assist in the investigation of the sexual assault of a nine-year-old which happened in Bude back in 2016. 

The incident involving a nine-year-old boy reportedly happened on August 13, 2016 at an outdoor play area at the Sandymouth Holiday Home Park.  

Police have specified that the assault occurred within a piece of play equipment shaped as a pirate ship. 

The male suspect is believed to have been aged around 16 to 20 at the time and assaulted the victim inside the play equipment. 

T/Detective Constable Clare Keenan said: “This incident occurred out of sight but there were other children in the play area at the time who spoke with the victim and may have information which could assist our enquiries. 

“We also believe that the suspect was local to the area and so we’re keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us identify him. 

“I’d ask anyone who was staying on the site around the time of the incident, anyone whose children may have used the play area and anyone who may be able to help identify the suspect or provide any information which could assist our enquiries, to get please get in touch.”
