ONE of Bude’s much-loved pubs and restaurants has announced it will be closing its doors following financial pressures.

The Red Post Inn, based in Launcells has revealed that April 6 will be its last day of trading after 13 years in the business.

Owners, Paul and Tracy announced to residents that, while the holiday park will remain open due to difficulties within the hospitality industry, they are not able to sustain the site any longer.

They said: “It is with great sadness that after 13 years this the Saturday, April 6 will be our last day of trading.

“Despite all efforts and hopes that the recent budget was going help the hospitality industry, this didn’t materialise.

“The hospitality industry has been struggling for many, many years.

“We have sustained it for many years but I’m afraid no longer, after much heartache we are closing.

“The holiday park remains open as this is going strong. The reason for this is that it doesn’t suffer the same ridiculous overheads and taxes of a pub and restaurant.”

The pair have thanked customers who have supported the business during the last decade.

They added: “We would like to thank all of our customers over the years and wish things were different as The Red Post Inn is very special.”
