STAFF members from a fast food chain in Launceston have taken on the three peaks challenge with a tasty twist.

Ben Wood, Gordon Buntin and Kevin Cook from Domino’s have described themselves as ‘three friends on a mission’, after they tackled the three peaks challenge in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

The three, who work at Launceston’s branch of pizza chain Domino’s, wanted to raise funds for a cause close to their heart.

They explained: “The motivation behind this gruelling challenge is a cause close to their hearts – the Teenage Cancer Trust. This remarkable charity provides essential support to teenagers battling cancer through respite centres, treatment facilities, family support, and much more.

“Every penny raised from this endeavour will go directly to the Teenage Cancer Trust, helping to further their mission and extend their vital support to those in need.”

However, the challenge was not a small one. The trio took on the summits of the tallest mountains in England, Wales, and Scotland – all within just 24 hours. Starting with Snowdon in Wales, then Scafell Pike in England before finishing with Ben Nevis in Scotland.

Adding a twist to the challenge however, at the mountains’ peaks, the boys made sure to enjoy a treat which is close to home, a slice of Domino’s pizza.

Starting their first climb in Wales at around 8am on June 22, the trio finished their final hike at Ben Nevis at around 6am on June 23.

In total Ben, Gordon and Kevin hiked more than 22 miles and tackled 4,629ft of elevation, climbing for more than nine hours. As if this wasn’t enough, travelling from Cornwall brought the total journey time to around 15 hours of driving.

So far, the trio have raised more than £2,650 for the charity.

The trio added: “Your support, whether through donations or simply sharing our story, will be invaluable in helping us reach the peaks and their fundraising target.

“Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your generosity and encouragement!”
