BOND TIMBER CORNWALL CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO T20 CUP GROUP F

Holsworthy v Tintagel

HOLSWORTHY moved to within a victory of the eight at Stanhope Park on Wednesday night with a workmanlike success over Tintagel at Stanhope Park.

The Trees’ innings never really got any momentum early on, but bits and pieces plus a staggering 44 extras got the total up to 136-9.

Tintagel’s big three of Matt Jolliffe, Leo Agacy and Ryan Pooley all got starts, but they last lost their last nine wickets for less than 30.

It means Holsworthy know victory at neighbours Bude on Thursday, June 25 will secure them yet another spot in the last eight having won the competition back in 2022.

Rearranged from the previous week due to the weather, Tintagel started well in the field as South African Bilal Darbar was bowled by Australian seamer Jack Minehan for just five, before Sam Stacey (12) and Brendan Harris (23) got stuck in.

Those two and key man Jack Greening all fell in quick succession, but the Knights’ generosity meant runs were always coming.

Skipper Ryan Walter was lbw for 14 to Ryan Pooley, and Owen Barnes (3-21) soon took care of both Rory Piper and Guy Beagley just for a single between them, however Aiden Gerry (16) and Rob Mitchell (19) both made important contributions to give them a total to defend. Vedavyas Kankanala claimed 2-27.

Tintagel going okay at 50-1, but lost important wickets as Jolliffe (10) edged Greening behind, Agacy (11) was bowled by Mitchell and Pooley (20) was snared by Nick Ward at long-on off Gerry’s flat off-spin which saw him snare 3-10 from his allocation.

The middle-order then collapsed in a heap with Beagley’s seam taking four quick wickets for just 14 in a total of 78 all out, which means Tintagel need help from Bude before beating the Seasiders in early July.
