WERRINGTON Thirds moved within seven points of second following an emphatic 205-run victory over current occupiers St Neot.

A 202-run stand between Dan Howgill (98) and Paul Miller (89) was added to by a quickfire 31 not out from Ian Worsnip as they reached 294-5 from their 45 overs.

Opening bowlers Nick Oldaker (3-24) and Sam Uglow (2-24) then shared five wickets in the visitors’ 89 all out.

In Division Five East, all four Post area sides lost.

Holsworthy Seconds visited leaders Wadebridge Thirds at Pencarrow.

They restricted a strong home side to 194-9 as Dan Lucas (2-20), Brodi Wonnacott (2-22) and Liam Brend (2-58) shared six wickets.

An impressive home attack restricted the Trees to 18-5 from the first 16 overs before the Devonians fought back.

Sam Stacey added 21 from 19, but Adam Lovejoy’s superb 94 not out (six fours, eight sixes) from just 79 balls gave them a chance as he put on 109 with Nick Ward (21).

Thirty-five were required off the final 15 balls before Ward departed and they fell away to 175 all out.

Launceston Seconds lost by 123 runs at promotion-chasing Buckland Monachorum.

Indy Worth took 4-68 as the hosts made 204-9, but Launceton were dismissed for just 81 with Edward Mansfield 17 not out.

St Minver worked hard with nine players at second-placed Gorran and came away with six points.

They restricted the villagers to 215-6 with J Hall taking 3-39 and Josh Sanders 2-26, before Steve Hawke’s 37 helped them reach 90.

Luckett Seconds won at fellow promotion-hopefuls St Austell Fourths in Division Six East.

Richard Seeley (45no) and Stephen Brown (32) put on 62 in good time to help Luckett recover from 81-5 to post 183-8.

All of the Saints’ top eight reached double figures in reply, but wickets fell at regular intervals to be be held to 164-8.

Martin Budge took 4-54 while Gareth Clements (2-15 off 10) was miserly.

Luckett sit one point behind second-placed St Stephen Seconds who lost by five wickets to their mid-table South Petherwin counterparts.

Martyn Stenlake took 4-22 for the visitors in a fine team display as the hosts were all out for just 111.

Petherwin inched their way to victory with five wickets and 18 balls to spare.

After opener Nick Gerry made 22 in a running total of 37-3, a 40-run stand between man-of-the-match Stenlake (30) and Roger Gerry (23no) proved key.

Bude Seconds are within 10 points of second after they were handed a home walkover by Ladock Seconds, while third bottom Werrington Fourths were beaten by six wickets at runaway leaders Bugle.

After Nigel Dennis (22), Adam Paynter (35) and Matt Chatfield (29) gave the innings a decent start, it needed 44 not out from skipper Ian Wills to help the visitors reach 185-9.

Ben Sonley (4-44) reduced the hosts to 22-3, but Bugle eased home with 16 balls to spare.

In Division Seven East, Tintagel Seconds moved up to second with a seven-wicket victory over their Buckland Monachorum counterparts.

Neil Hann took 4-35 as the visitors were held to 178-8, before unbeaten forties from Martin Seldon (49) and Joe parsons (48) got the job done.

Elsewhere, Launceston Thirds were dismissed for just 27 at St Neot Seconds who knocked it off for one wicket.
