SOUTH Petherwin secured their maiden Clive Rosevear Cup crown earlier this month as they saw off Roche Seconds and then Menheniot-Looe at St Stephen.
In the semi-final against Roche, Petherwin’s batsmen went run crazy as they racked up a huge 216-7, that after slipping to 19-3 with dangerman Sam Pengelly out for just five.
But a remarkable display of hitting from both Andrew Brenton and Adam Creasey changed the course of the game.
They put on 102 before Creasey went for 71 from just 31 balls with eight fours and five sixes to boot.
Brenton carried on his merry way to end 85 not out from 48 balls (four fours, seven sixes) and with some chip-ins from the rest, they ensured Roche needed nearly 11 an over from the outset.
The Clay Country outfit lost two early wickets and although James Cole (47) and George Oakley (33) briefly threatened, wickets fell throughout as they closed their 20 overs on 148-8.
Skipper Adrian Clements (2-22), Sam Pengelly (2-23) and Jacob Masters (2-29) all the kept the runs down and made crucial breakthroughs.

Petherwin again batted first in the final against Division Three East league rivals Menheniot-Looe and won a thriller by two runs having been dismissed for 161, Menheniot-Looe paying the price for not scoring quickly enough despite losing just four wickets.
Petherwin’s innings saw Billy Martin (27), Sam Pengelly and Andrew Brenton (35) get off to a quick start before Adam Creasey (25), Paul Clements (15no), Adrian Clements and Kevin Horrell (18) got them up to 161 all out.
On a small ground that was around par, and Menheniot lost key men Luke Ripley (1) and Steve Kidd (15) without causing much damage.
But although Aussie Findlay Farrell (79) and Tom Harris (46) got in, both fell to Pengelly (2-29) with less than 10 required. Masters (0-26) gave little away.
