Cornish clubs look to reach the First Round Proper in FA Vase

EIGHT Cornish clubs across both the Western League Premier Division and South West Peninsula League Premier West are in FA Vase action this Saturday as they look to reach the First Round Proper next month.

Although Liskeard Athletic are already out having lost to league rivals Brixham, the other four sides from the Duchy in the Western League are still going.

St Blazey – second in the table following Wednesday night’s win over Ivybridge Town are at home to Premier West strugglers Millbrook, while Torpoint Athletic also enjoy their own comforts as Premier East Honiton Town head to South East Cornwall.

Honiton’s league rivals Cullompton Rangers – flying high in second – go to a Newquay side who were beaten 2-0 at Saltash United on Tuesday night, while the Ashes themselves are involved in one of the ties of the round as they go to league rivals and table-toppers Bridgwater United for the second straight Saturday having lost 2-1 to the Robins in the league.

As well as Millbrook, three other Premier West sides are also in action.

Sticker – flying high at the top take a break from league action as they go to mid-table South Devon outfit Newton Abbot Spurs having won away from home at Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police in the last round.

Camelford were held to a 3-3 draw at Helston on Tuesday night and head up to North Devon to tackle fellow Step Six side Torrington, while a young Wendron United side will have their work cut out at Brixham who were relegated from the Southern League Division One South in the spring.
