HOLSWORTHY fell to their successive defeat on Saturday in SWPL Premier East as they were beaten 3-1 at Newton Abbot Spurs.

The Magpies were fortunate not to be more than 1-0 down at the break as a combination of wayward finishing and some good goalkeeping by Ryan Chadwick kept the score down.

Although the North Devon outfit improved after the restart, further goals from James Moxon and Toby Pullman (penalty) put the game out of the visitors’ reach.

Sam Jago, on first team debut after recently joining from Halwill, pulled one back late on with a superb finish, but it wasn’t their day.

The result, coupled with a win for Elburton Villa, means they are now second from bottom ahead of Saturday’s big game at Bridport (3pm).
