NORTH Petherwin are the first team into the 2022/23 Launceston Cup semi-finals after a 3-2 victory over Lifton on Monday night.

The two sides – one league apart – faced off at the 3G at the Launceston College Playing Fields and produced a superb contest that swung back and forth.

The Badgers led 2-0 thanks to goals from Alex Williams and Owen Pennington before Lifton, mid-table in the Duchy Premier, made it all square through Ben Hodge and Dan Altaan.

However the East Cornwall Premier League leaders secured their passage through thanks to an own goal which came via a Jack Digby cross.

They will face the winners of Sunday’s tie between St Breward and Bude Town Reserves (12.30pm).
